Why We Do This

Hi! Thanks for reading.

My name is Russell and my wife is Regina. We've known each other since 1994 and married in 2011. We're polyamorous. You can learn a little more about us and our partners under the Who We Are and  Cast of Characters pages, respectively.

Polyamory can be described as consensual non-monogomy: the practice of loving more than one partner concurrent - openly, ethnically, and honestly. Those who live a Polyamorous lifestyle engage in non-monogamous loving and sexual relationships, with the knowledge and consent of all.

Regina and I have been blogging about Polyamory since 2007 with a desire to share our experiences. Through sharing we hope others won't commit the same mistakes we did; that we may describe healthy alternatives to monogamy; that we can let others know that there are options concerning marriage, dating, and sex - mature, adult choices - that aren't often discussed in our culture. We both enjoy challenging the status quo.

And we share because, well, we like to share. That's kind of what Poly's all about. Most who identify as Polyamorous tend to play well with others.

There was a point in our lives when we kept our polyamorous lifestyle secret. Then, on National Coming Out Day (October 11, 2012), frustrated with the duality of living both public and secret lives, we decided to open up. We announced to our friends, family, and work associates that we were polyamorous and proud. We were featured on Our America's documentary on Polyamory lifestyles aired in March 2013. How exciting!

Thanks for reading and joining us on our journey.
